This is a one-week yoga cum spiritual retreat programme designed exclusively for those interested in perusing the path of yoga. It is open for those who wish to learn yoga and experience its benefits and also for those having a fairly good knowledge of yoga.
This retreat will be held twice a year- in the first week of May and December. The main objective of these camps is to ensure the spiritual growth of the aspirants. Therefore, it has been decided to allow the admission of ten aspirant's per camp. Yoga teacher Vimal insists on giving personal attention to each and every aspirant to see that they receive focused and quality training. The admission will be on first come first serve basis.
A retreat will be held at a resort in Pharping, a small
town located about 20 kms away from the Nepal’s
capital city of Kathmandu. It is an ancient Buddhist
religious centre of greater historical significance. It has
been one of the most sought after place of the Buddhist
monks to engage in meditation and spiritual practices.
Many Buddhist monks have carried on their spiritual
practices here since ancient times. The town is home to
a good number of Buddhist shrines and holy caves.
The venue is located close to a Buddhist monastery
amidst the idyllic surroundings of the verdant
Himalayan foothills. The participants can also have the
first hand experience of the life of the local people, their
culture, farming practices etc.
Besides maintaining high standards of hygiene, the
resort offers a pleasant and peaceful ambience well
suited for the yogic practices. It has an enchanting
landscape and located close to the monastery. The
participants can visit the monastery in the morning and
evening hours. A private hall is available for the yoga
practice in case the weather does not support.
We provide shared rooms with two independent beds, chairs, air condition, attached bathrooms and round the clock running hot water. Single rooms will be provided on demand and against the payment of extra charges.
We will provide sufficient quantity best quality vegetarian food that is simple, delicious, nutritious and supportive of spiritual practices. Food for the participants will be cooked separately and it includes break fast, lunch and dinner. Along with vegetarian dishes, milk, curd and honey will also be served. Organically grown vegetables and milk will be procured from the local farmers.
This special yogic retreat programme will focus on the
advanced practice of Yogasana (yogic postures),
Pranayama (breathing techniques) and Dhyana
(meditation). Additionally, there will be classes on yoga
philosophy, Bhajan and Kirtan sessions.
In the Yogasana classes, the aspirants will be taught
special Asanas that help rejuvenate the physical
structure and instil renewed spirit and enthusiasm.
Regular practice of these postures makes participants
feel light and relaxed, elevating them on emotional and
sentimental planes.
Pranayama, a combination of different breathing
techniques primarily dealing with Prana (the life force),
involves training in various breathing techniques that
help regulate Pranic energy and delve deep into our
consciousness.
Classes on Dhyana, or meditation, are unique to this
programme. Yogi Vimalji will conduct meditation
classes based on his years of experience and practice.
He has devised a special meditation technique called
Atma Jyoti Meditation, which takes participants to a
deep state of silence and bliss. Dhyana is followed by
Kirtan (singing devotional songs), the best way to
purify the mind and heart and experience a glimpse of
supreme bliss. Bonfire sessions will add flavour to the
Kirtans.
The classes and discourses on the philosophy of yoga
are integral to this programme. In these sessions, the
aspirants are introduced to various aspects of yoga
philosophy and encouraged to ask questions to
comprehend the philosophical side of yoga. Adding to
the programme's flavour are prayers and rituals at the
temple, which help calm the mind, improve
concentration and enhance feelings of devotion and
love in one's heart.
During the camp, the aspirants will have the
opportunity to explore the local destinations of cultural
and spiritual significance during free time. Since time
immemorial, a good number of monks and spiritual
masters have carried on their Sadhana in these
locations. It is believed that the spiritual vibes in these
places are of immense help for the spiritual attainments.
The retreat also offers an opportunity to visit the places
of historical and spiritual interests in Kathmandu. These
places include important Hindu and Buddhist sites such
as Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath temple and
the Baudha Stupa, which played a key role in shaping
and nurturing the spiritual and cultural heritage of
Nepal.
Site seeing will the special offer for the participants. It
will be held on April 30 and those will to take part in
the site seeing are requested to reach here on April 29
and bore the lodging and boarding expenses for one
day.
A camp fee of $650 has been fixed per person. This amont will cover lodging and boarding for eight nights including one night at Kathmandu and the remaining seven nights at the resort. Practice materials such as yoga mat and Neti pot will be provided. A group of two or more people can avail a concession of $20 to $50 per person.
The participants are requested to arrive at Kathmandu
two days before the commencement of the camp. As we
have already stated above, we will offer site seeing
facility to the aspirant. Those willing to participate in
site seeing are requested to reach one day in advance.
Suppose the retreat is commencing on 1 st May, the site
seeing will be held on one day before-30 th April. Those
willing to take part in site seeing, are requested to arrive
two days in advance- 29 th April.
Those arriving here before April 30 th , need to bear the
expenses of loading and boarding on their own.
However, we will help book hotel on demand. We will
see that the aspirants receive quality services and enjoy
a pleasant stay in a peaceful and joyful environs.
