The 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Course (TTC) offered by Atma Jyoti Yoga School (AJYS), based in Rishikesh, India, is one of the best-designed courses in the practice of yoga. On the practical part, we teach with total accuracy the physical exercises, breathing techniques, and meditation based on the texts of Hatha yoga, Patanjali’s Kriya Yoga and Ashtanga yoga.
Hatha yoga is the chief component of the course . It is basically to understand our physical structure and learn how to regulate the functioning of various limbs and organs of the body through different postures.
Kriya yoga and Ashtanga yoga are integral to Raja yoga, which deals with the art of regulating the thought process and the emotional faculty. Various techniques of breathing and meditation teach regulate the pranic energy and look deep into our consciousness. These techniques are key to achieving physical as well as mental health.
On the theoretical part, the yoga anatomy explains science of anatomy as it applies to the practice of yoga postures. The learners are taught the safe and stable physical alignments in the yoga postures so that they can practice and teach yoga in effective and enjoyable ways.
In classes on philosophy, the aspirants are introduced to the history of yoga, the evolution of different paths of yoga, their salient features, Bhagavad Gita, which teaches the quintessential of all four paths of yoga- Jnana, Karma, Raja, and Bhakti-, the great sage Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra and other ancient texts. Training in proper methods of reciting the Vedic verses in Sanskrit along with explaining their meaning will be an added advantage. For the entire duration of the course, we arrange for vegetarian and vegan recipes that are free of onion and garlic. This ‘Satvic Food’ menu helps the aspirants stay mentally calm and physically active throughout the course. The menu consists of the delicacies recommended by our ancestors, yogis, and guided by the principles of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of healthcare. Yogis and seekers have been following this dietary plan since time immemorial. We also ensure that organic food is provided to the best possible extent and that the use of spices is balanced, keeping in mind the health conditions of the aspirants.

Prayers are essentially the expression of our heart. The language could be varied and the intensity with which one prays may vary from person to person. Vedic Mantras are chanted according to the intonation given in the Vedas. One needs to listen to them very carefully and learn seriously. The Vedic chanting has come down from generations to generations and even today it is chanted exactly the same manner by the followers of the particular branch of Vedas.
